PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Public Utility District No. 1 must tell the state Department of Health by Friday how it plans to deal with the potential shutoff of city water to the district.
Clallam PUD General Manager Dennis Bickford told the district’s board of commissioners on Monday that staff knew the requirement was coming and are working diligently on the plan.
The June 25 letter from the state Department of Health’s office of drinking water stated the agency was “very concerned about the potential loss of wholesale water” from Port Angeles to Clallam PUD.
“Water of sufficient quantity and pressure must be provided for the customers of your system in order to meet basic public health and safety needs and to prevent contamination from entering the potable system,” the letter stated.
