PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Public Utility District General Manager Dennis Bickford will retire at the end of June after nearly three years with the district.
PUD Commissioners accepted Bickford’s resignation this week.
Board chairman Ted Simpson said Wednesday a timeline or process for finding Bickford’s replacement hasn’t been discussed by commissioners, but will be at a future meeting.
Bickford told the board that he can stay a little longer if a replacement cannot be found by his retirement date.
He has worked for Clallam PUD since October 2001, when he was hired as general manager to replace the retiring Mike McInnes.
Bickford, 55, graduated from Washington State University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
He has worked in the public utility industry for 34 years, including 13 years at Franklin County PUD and 14 years at Benton County PUD, as well as for private utilities and as an engineering consultant.
“I will have put in my 30 years in the PUD’s retirement system. I’m looking to do something else,” Bickford said, adding that he plans to stay in the area.
