PORT ANGELES — Clallam County residents still puzzled over the flurry of local campaign issues will get some help finding answers when the Peninsula Daily News and Peninsula News Network team up for two special programs this week.
“Questions for Candidates”‘ will bring together political hopefuls in the major county races for a special live television program Tuesday and Wednesday night.
Clallam County commissioner candidates Mike Doherty and Phil Kitchel, 24th District legislative hopefuls Bill Thomas and Jim Buck will be featured on the first program Tuesday night.
On Wednesday night, the focus will shift to the county’s “law and justice” races.
Clallam County Sheriff Joe Hawe and his challenger Soeren Poulsen, incumbent Prosecuting Attorney Chris Shea and opponent Deb Kelly will appear during the first hour of the debate.
District Court Judge John Doherty will face challenger Rick Porter in the final 90 minutes.
The programs on both nights will begin at 7 p.m. on Peninsula News Network, which can be seen on Northland Cable Channel 3 in Port Angeles and Sequim.
The candidates will face questions from the area’s most experienced journalists. PNN anchorman Dennis Bragg will moderate the program and will be joined by Peninsula Daily News Executive Editor Rex Wilson and Paul Gottlieb, the paper’s Commentary Page editor.
