PORT ANGELES — Fans of the men who bared all for a calendar to benefit animals can get their own signed copies of “Dogs ‘n’ Wheels . . . And Fluffy, Too!” at a signing next week.
Twelve of the 13 models who posed in their birthday suits for the Peninsula Friends of Animals’ fund-raising tool will be on hand Tuesday evening for the event, likely wearing more than they did in the calendar.
Port Book & News will host the signing at 7-8:30 p.m. at the meeting rooms of Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St.
Refreshments will be served. Calendars are available at the event for $14.95, and those who have already purchased calendars can bring theirs to be signed.
The 2005 calendars feature strategically covered nude men from ages 20 to 80 posing with a variety of dogs. The models are from the Sequim and Port Angeles areas.
Though not all of them are members of Peninsula Friends of Animals, they all support the nonprofit agency’s mission, say organizers of the calendar.
Their efforts so far are proving to be profitable for the organization.
Since the calendars became available about three weeks ago, the group has sold more than $6,000 worth, said calendar photographer Nancy Rudolph.
That’s at least as good as, if not better than, the first few weeks of sales for the group’s first in-the-buff venture, a 2004 calendar of women.
