Clallam, Jefferson real estate agents plan open house blitz

PORT ANGELES — A massive open house is scheduled this coming Saturday and Sunday.

There will be open houses at more than 400 homes that are for sale across the North Olympic Peninsula — about 200 in Clallam County and another 200 in Jefferson County.

The homes will be open for four hours each day, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Real estate agents, some accompanied by mortgage brokers, will at the open houses to answer questions.

“The activities will help those thinking about buying a home take advantage of unique home market factors and the 2009 federal first-time home buyer tax credit [up to $8,000] set to expire Nov. 30,” said Eileen Schmitz, a Port Angeles Association of Realtors board member and chairwoman of the Clallam open house event.

Watch for advertisements in the Peninsula Daily News about the open house and listing homes that will be participating. There will be a special pull-out section in Friday’s PDN.

The two-day event — Realtors Statewide Open House, June 27-28 — is sponsored by the Washington Association of Realtors. It is the first of its kind in Washington state.

It addition to home sellers and real estate agents on the North Olympic Peninsula, it will involve 30 other Realtor associations covering more than 60 cities across the state.

For more information on the Clallam open houses, phone Schmitz at JACE The Real Estate Company, 360-452-1210; Pili Meyer at Coldwell Banker Uptown Realty, 360-452-7861; or Dan Blevins at Carroll Realty, 360-457-1111.

In Jefferson County, phone Susan Miller of the Jefferson County Association of Realtors at 360-385-9344.

“This weekend will be a prime time for those who want to see the variety of homes that are out there, even if they are just window shopping,” said Daphne Eshom, president of the Port Angeles Association of Realtors.

“For buyers who’ve been on the sidelines and have good jobs, the market has never looked more favorable.”

Agreeing with her is Meyer:

“That first-time home buyer tax credit is invaluable for first-time home buyers.

“Qualified, first-time home buyers have a lot going for them right now.

“There is not much that should hold them back.

“I don’t know how it could be a better time to start on the road to home ownership.”
