PORT ANGELES — Power crews in Clallam and Jefferson counties Saturday were working to restore power following a storm Friday and the arrival of Saturday’s storm.
Clallam PUD
As of Saturday evening, Clallam County Public Utility District was working to restore power to about 650 customers on the West end of Clallam County, primarily in the Neah Bay, Clallam Bay, Hoko, Sekiu, Forks and Pysht areas, according to the Clallam PUD.
Just under 30 customers were also without power east of Port Angeles on O’Brien Road.
There were no estimated restoration times.
At the height of Friday’s storm, over 2,500 customers were without power.

PUD spokesman Michael Howe released the following statement Saturday:
“Extreme weather is expected to continue throughout the day and evening in Clallam County. If you see downed power lines, please stay away — call 911 or the PUD at 800-542-7859.
“Also, when the winds are extreme like those predicted for this evening, it is incredibly dangerous for our crews to be working and they may not be able to to work safely in extreme winds. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. Crews will work to restore any power outage in a safe and efficient manner.
“The great thing about public power is that we live where you do. Our employees are your friends, your family and your neighbors — we want power restored just as quickly as you do. Like you, we also want our crews to be safe.”
Jefferson PUD
The Jefferson PUD reported Saturday morning that it is still working to restore power to a small number of customers in the Coyle Road area near Dabob Bay.
Crews worked earlier to repair a damaged line in the West Valley Road area that caused an outage on Carl Johns Road and Camp Discovery.
On its website at www.jeffpud.org, the organization said:
“This next storm is to be stronger than what we experienced [Friday]. As you can see from the forecast model, whichever track the storm takes, the PUD service area will be impacted. Plan now for prolonged power outages. Stay away from downed power lines.”
