Clallam County Humane Society leaders have given county commissioners until April 9 to come up with $40,000, or the animal shelter will be shut down, the society’s president said Sunday.
“We just cannot afford to supply a service for less than that,” said John Miles.
“I’m sorry to take such a hard position, but we’re trying.”
Miles said the society’s board in April will be interviewing a finalist from South Carolina for the shelter’s director position.
Clallam County commissioners will discuss animal shelter funding shortfall again at 2:30 p.m. today during a work session at the county courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
