A fire raged through a Sequim home late Friday night, one of several blazes that kept local firefighters busy on the Fourth of July.
The house fire, at 394 W. Hammond St., broke out around 11:30 p.m. and displaced as many as eight people who were inside when the blaze started.
Clallam County Fire District No. 3 Assistant Chief Allen Knobbs said Saturday the fire is of “suspicious origin” and is currently under investigation.
It does not appear to be fireworks-related, he said.
The fire apparently started on the back porch and spread to the roof and one bedroom, charring the rear of the house and causing smoke damage throughout, Knobbs said.
