PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Historical Society will present its annual Heritage Awards on Sunday.
The presentation will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Port Angeles City Council chambers, 321 E. Fifth St.
Awards will be given to:
■ John Singhose for his preservation of old farm and logging equipment.
■ Sandy Keys for his preservation of buildings at Lincoln Park.
■ Jonny Irwin and John Paul Nuez for their work at the Beaumont Cabin as their Senior Culminating Project.
Also during the gathering — the society’s annual meeting — author Charles LeWarne will present “From Bug to Usk: A Look at Washington State Place Names.”
LeWarne said his presentation is “illustrated with those welcoming signs we see as we enter towns, many of which are quite distinctive. I tell stories of how many of our towns were named.”
LeWarne, a native of the Puget Sound area, is the author of Utopias on Puget Sound, 1885-1915, which received the Governor’s Writers Award, and of Washington State, a textbook for secondary school students.
He has published numerous articles in state and national journals.
Refreshments will be served.
