PORT ANGELES — Clallam 2 Fire Rescue has announced that 13 member have successfully completed rope rescue certification through the National Fire Protection Association.
Firefighter/EMTs Sean Charon and Mike Jensen earned certification in Rope Rescue Operations.
Captain Shane Simpson along with firefighter/EMTs Marisa Delano, Mike Wheeler, Andrew Lyon, Fred Way, Tyler Gear, Jessica Adams, Jessica Andrews and Mya Delano, and firefighter/paramedics Travis McFarland and Margie Brueckner have earned certification as Rope Rescue Technicians.
The members all volunteered a minimum of 48 hours of specialized training to earn these certifications.
According to a press release, Clallam 2 encounters situations requiring rope rescue techniques several times per year.
The district includes over 85 square miles outside the city of Port Angeles.
