Clallam Fire District No. 2 moves into Port Angeles city fire station

PORT ANGELES – Clallam County Fire District No. 2 has moved into town.

Offices that were housed in the Dry Creek station at 700 Power Plant Road outside of the Port Angeles city limit, were moved into the Port Angeles Fire Department headquarters at 102 E. Fifth St., in Port Angeles on Friday.

“We can get more done here,” said Fire District No. 2 Chief Jon Bugher from his new office.

“We’ve outgrown the Dry Creek station.”

The new location will be more convenient for the public and save money, said both Bugher and Port Angeles Fire Chief Dan McKeen.

Fire District 2 surrounds the city of Port Angeles on the east, west and south.

Fire District 2 residents now can get burn permits, land clearing permits and other district services at one central location in Port Angeles, Bugher said.

Said McKeen, “This location is unique because it is in the center of the city and in the center of the fire district.”

The city of Port Angeles and Clallam County Fire District No. 2 approved an agreement to share space in November.

The Port Angeles Fire Department gets space for its equipment in exchange for allowing Fire District 2 administrative staff to use three offices at the city’s fire station.

Bugher moved into the new building along with Deputy Chief Mike Oakes and district secretary Joan Noal, who each have separate offices.
