Clallam Fair royalty ready to reign over August celebration

PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Fair royal court is ready to reign over the fair set for Aug. 18-21.

Queen Katelynn Carter of Sequim and Princesses Samantha Winger of Forks and Lacey Bishop of Quilcene were chosen by judges earlier this month and will be crowned during this year’s edition of the county fair, which will have the theme of “Cowboy Boots and Country Roots.”

Katelynn, a junior at Sequim High School, is an FFA member. Her project is swine.

She also has been involved in Sequim High School’s Select Choir.

Katelynn, whose parents are Lisa and Scott Carter, has participated at the Clallam County Fair for three years.

She is sponsored by Black Bear Diner.

Her future plans are undetermined, but she has an interest in being an ultrasound or X-ray technician.

Samantha, a freshman at Forks High School, is a cheerleader and plays softball.

She also is involved in community service such as being part of a fundraiser for Oso.

Her parents are Jolene and Danny Winger.

She is sponsored by Forks Real Estate.

Samantha plans to attend the University of Oregon and become a dental hygienist.

Lacey, a freshman at Chimacum High School living in Quilcene, is an active member in the Clallam County 4-H Rascal Club who has participated at the Clallam County Fair for four years in the project of dairy cows.

Lacey, whose parents are Ron and Shannon Bishop, is president of her FFA group.

She is sponsored by Double D Electrical.

Her hobbies include riding horses, playing clarinet in the school jazz club and participating in her school’s marching band.

She plans to attend Gonzaga University to study agriculture and criminal justice law to become an agriculture lawyer.
