Clallam EOC relocation; Jefferson DCD chief replacement

County commission

Clallam County commissioners will discuss at 9 a.m. Monday a $1 million grant application to relocate the Emergency Operations Center from the basement of the courthouse to a leased property near William R. Fairchild International Airport.

The work session will be in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse. No in-person attendance will be allowed until Gov. Jay Inslee’s “stay home, stay safe” proclamation is lifted, according to the agenda.

The proposed $1 million port security grant for the EOC relocation would be funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Other discussion items for the work session include:

• An application for an Office of Crime Victim Advocacy victim witness assistance grant.

• An agreement with the state Department of Ecology for water quality financial assistance for the Clallam Bay-Sekiu area.

• A letter of support for federal financial support for Blackball Ferry Line due to its inability to operate the M.V. Coho ferry because of the coronavirus.

• A letter of support to the state Department of Natural Resources regarding a land exchange with Merrill and Ring.

Commissioners will conduct their regular business meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Action items include:

• The re-bidding of a 2020 rock-crushing contract.

• Notice that supplemental appropriations will be adopted April 28.

• A call for April 28 hearing for proposed debatable budget emergencies.

Port Angeles city

The Port Angeles City Council will consider a waiver of interest and Parking and Business Improvement Area (PBIA) fees for the COVID-19 health emergency at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Listening and webcast options for the virtual meeting will be available on the city’s website, www.cityofpa.us.

Each City Council member, staff member, and members of the public may participate in the meeting from separate locations via conference call or by webcast.

Among items on the consent agenda are acceptance of a Washington Association of Sheriffs & Police Chiefs grant for the REdisRECOVERY program and a professional service contract with the Olympic Peninsula Community Clinic; approval of a $93,818 contract with Quality Controls Corp., of Lynnwood for replacement of a control panel for Pump Station 3; acceptance of a county grant to fund a Community Paramedico Program at Port Angeles Fire Department; approving a $63,280 contract with All Weather Roofing to re-roof the Ranney Well and its support building: an interlocal agreement for backfilling personnel with local fire departments.

Port Angeles schools

The Port Angeles School Board plans a virtual meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday.

No agenda was available as of Saturday.

Clallam Transit

The Clallam Transit board meeting for Wednesday has been canceled.

The next scheduled meeting is May 20.

Board of Health

The Clallam County Board of Health meeting for Tuesday has been canceled.

The next scheduled meeting is May 19.

Jefferson County

Jefferson County commissioners will consider a temporary replacement for the Department of Community Development director when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

Patty Charnas has been reassigned to serve as chief of the county’s COVID-19 Pandemic Response and Relief Finance Section. Commissioners will consider approving a professional services agreement with the Demarche Consulting Group to provide Linda Paralez to serve as acting director of DCD.

Commissioners will consider a new agreement with the Hoh Tribe for law enforcement.

They will hear an update from Dr. Tom Locke, county health officer, on COVID-19.

The consent agreement includes several agreements concerning affordable housing.

Port of Port Townsend

Port of Port Townsend commissioners will consider a revenue forecast, budget and spending plan in light of the COVID-19 precautions when they meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The public can view the meeting only remotely through Zoom.

Port Townsend city

The Port Townsend City Council will consider authorizing temporary staff furloughs when it meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will hear about the possibility of the agency setting up wifi hotspots throughout the county when they meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
