Clallam County’s special courts for juvenile and adult drug offenders have received a total of $270,000 in grants, the county announced Monday.
The Adult Drug Court was awarded $20,000 from the state Legislature and $110,000 in Edward Byrne Memorial State and Local Law Enforcement Formula Grant funding.
The latter is a federal grant administered by the Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance to reduce violent and drug-related crime.
Meanwhile, the Clallam Juvenile Drug Court received $140,000 from the Legislature to support it from July 1, 2001, to July 1, 2003.
The Adult Drug Court began October 1999 and has had 19 graduates and 63 current participants.
Clallam’s Juvenile Drug Court was the Northwest’s first such court when it began in July 1997. It now has 28 graduates and 22 participants.
