PORT ANGELES — A District Court 1 judge will hear arguments this week on a motion by former Clallam County commissioner candidate Sue Forde and her husband to dismiss a lawsuit against them by a collection agency.
The suit alleges Sue and Bob Forde of Sequim owe more than $5,000 for printing done by of The Olympic Trader, a Sequim-based shopper that Sue Forde founded, owned and operated for 11 years, and Citizen News.
The five-year-old collection has been turned over by the PDN to Peninsula Collection Services.
The Fordes have argued that the suit should be dismissed because the state constitution is invalid, thereby providing no basis for Peninsula Collection Services to exist.
Sequim attorney Gerald Grimes, representing Peninsula Collection Services, has asked that the motion be denied.
Arguments are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday before Judge Pro-Tempore Grant Meiner.
District Court 1 Judge Rick Porter has recused himself because he knows the Fordes.
Sue Forde was the Republican candidate for county commissioner against incumbent Steve Tharinger, who won re-election by nearly 2,200 votes.
