Clallam County to consider ending COVID emergency

Meetings across North Olympic Peninsula

The boards of local government agencies will meet next week on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider a resolution ending the COVID-19 emergency in the county during weekly business meeting Tuesday.

The commissioners’ work session at 9 a.m. Monday will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The hybrid meetings are in the county commissioners’ meeting room in the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Agenda items include:

• An emergency resolution regarding replacement motors for the sheriff’s office marine unit’s vessel Protector and a contract with Westside Marine, Inc. for $49,862 to purchase two replacement 200-HP Yamaha motors.

• An amendment to the contract with Wellpath for an additional $76,023 for increased nursing costs for inmate health care services.

• A resolution to vacate a portion of platted Hazel Street. A public hearing on this resolution was conducted on Oct. 25.

• Final approval of Phase I of the 54-site Island View RV Park.

• An agreement to participate in the Olympic Consortium, along with Jefferson and Kitsap counties, to administer the Workforce Development Council.

• An amended agreement with the Peninsula Trails Coalition to extend the scope of work for its Discovery Trail Ambassador Program through Dec. 31, 2023.

• A call for a public hearing 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 regarding the county’s proposed six-year transportation improvement plan.

• An update on the conveyance of the Slip Point Light Station from the U.S. Coast Guard to Clallam County. U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer’s office recommends that the conveyance require the Coast Guard to remediate hazardous materials before the transfer.

• A call for a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, regarding proposed changes to the Parks Department’s consolidated fee schedule.

• Several resolutions appointing members of various boards and committees.

The Jefferson County commissioners will not meet Monday since it is the fifth Monday of October.

Association of counties

The Washington State Association of Counties will hear a weekly update on COVID-19 when they meet at noon Monday.

Both Clallam and Jefferson counties will participate.

Public Utility District

The Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners are scheduled to meet at 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The commissioners meet in the district offices at 310 Four Corners Road, Port Townsend.

The Board of Jefferson Transit Authority will review the proposed 2023 operating and capital budgets during a special meeting at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
