PORT ANGELES — Tim Bruce, Clallam County Sheriff’s Office chaplain, has graduated from the Police and Fire Chaplain Training Academy.
He was among the 29 chaplains to complete a week of studies at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission facility in Burien and graduate Oct. 8.
The program provides 44 hours of classroom training, 12 hours of direct contact experience and three hours of seminar training.
Chaplains assist deputies and residents in times of crisis, Sheriff Bill Benedict said.
“The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office is very fortunate to have a well-trained and compassionate cadre of chaplains who serve as a resource for CCSO personnel when dealing with the public in such incidents as accidental deaths, suicides, suicidal subjects, serious accidents, drug and alcohol abuse, and other such situations that may arise,” the sheriff said.
“Our chaplains also provide counseling, spiritual guidance and insight for agency personnel and their families.”
