PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Marine Resources Committee will offer paid summer internships to four qualified candidates.
Applicants must be at least 17 and show a high level of responsibility in natural resources or environmental studies work.
The 80-hour, $15-per-hour internship will be completed between June 15 and Aug. 17.
Interns will work closely with Marine Resources Committee (MRC) members on projects intended to protect and restore marine resources.
Available projects include kelp monitoring, educational outreach, reducing people and dogs’ impact on beaches, marine debris and an oil spill geographic response plan update.
Interested candidates are encouraged to browse the MRC website at www.clallamcountymrc.org then submit a letter of interest to the committee at clear@co.clallam.wa.us.
The letter should answer the following questions:
■ Why do you want to be an MRC-sponsored intern?
■ What skills do you have that would be particularly useful for the internship?
■ How does the internship fit into your future plans?
■ How do you think you would benefit from the internship?
The deadline for the letters is May 16.
An internship review committee will review the materials and schedule interviews with qualified applicants.
Hiring decisions will be made as soon as possible.
