PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Fair will end with the sights and sounds of crashing metal as drivers smash their cars during a demolition derby today.
The derby — which is expected to have from 90 to 100 cars this year — begins at 5 p.m. at the Clallam County Fairgrounds at 1608 W. 16th St., Port Angeles.
Tickets to the derby are $11. They go on sale at 9 a.m. today at the yellow gate at the west side of the fairgrounds. It typically sells out by noon, said Leslie Holmes, derby treasurer.
Admission to the fair is separate from the derby tickets. Fair admission is $7.50 for adults, $5.50 for seniors 62 and older and students 13 to 17. Children 12 and younger get in for $4.50.
And there’s plenty to see and do before the derby begins.
A rodeo begins at noon, and animal exhibits, demonstrations and entertainment are scheduled until the grounds close at 7 p.m.
Gates openat 8:30 a.m. Buildings open at 10 a.m., and the carnival gears up at noon.
