PORT ANGELES — Roger Fight of Sequim has been elected the party chairman of the Clallam County Democrats.
Marcia Farrell of Port Angeles is the vice chairwoman.
The party’s precinct committee officers met in a special meeting immediately after the party’s annual county convention adjourned April 12.
Served as interim chair
Fight, who had been acting chairman for about two weeks, was elected to fill the vacancy created when Pat Johansen of Sequim resigned because of family health issues.
She had served as chairwoman for 15 months.
The county Democrats at the convention elected Joseph Landoni of Sequim and Bill Dole Jr. and Ruth Replogle, both of Port Angeles, along with Farrell, as delegates to the state Democratic Party convention in Spokane, scheduled for June 21.
Nina Richards and John Marrs, both of Port Angeles, were chosen as alternate delegates.
Party platform
The party also adopted its 2014 platform, which is available on the Clallam County Democrats’ website, www.clallamdemocrats.org, and adopted two resolutions.
The first resolution says the party will support candidates who declare they will work to achieve meaningful action to repair atmospheric damage that contributes to climate change.
The second resolution urges U.S. Sens. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell to sponsor a companion bill to House Joint Resolution 29 calling for a constitutional amendment to override the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision that corporations have the same free speech rights as individual people.
