PORT ANGELES — Clallam County has authorized a line of credit of up to $750,000 for the William Shore Memorial Pool District.
The 1-year-old pool district can pay back the money over five years at a current interest rate of 2.59 percent. The money will be used to manage the pool at 255 E. Fifth St., Port Angeles.
“It’s a win-win situation as far as I’m concerned,” said Judy Scott, Clallam County treasurer.
The three county commissioners approved a resolution authorizing the agreement Tuesday.
Commissioners Mike Chapman and Mike Doherty, both of whom sit on the pool district’s board, recused themselves from voting on the line of credit at the May 25 pool district meeting.
The metropolitan park district was approved by voters living within Port Angeles School District boundaries in 2008.
The park district took ownership of the cash-strapped pool from the city of Port Angeles last June but has paid the city to manage the facility while it organized.
The pool district became the manager June 1. The city still maintains the pool under a contract.
A closure for annual maintenance remains in effect until June 20. Regular weekday hours are 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. The pool is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
In other board action, the commissioners approved notice of June 29 adoptions of $229,224 in supplemental appropriations, $1.2 million supplemental appropriations and a $45,130 budget reduction.
