Appointments to Clallam County’s first Board of Health are expected to be made Tuesday after the county commissioners discuss nominees at a work session this morning.
The commissioners meet at 9 a.m. at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles
The commissioners, who now act as a three-member health board, are in the process of the expanding the board by four more members.
The commissioners are responding to the recommendation of county Health Officer Dr. Tom Locke and the county’s Public Health Advisory Committee.
The commissioners are expected to name two at-large candidates from a list of six applicants that were recommended by the Public Health Advisory Committee. The committee recently gleaned those candidates from 11 applications.
Those under consideration are: Dr. Allen Lapin, pharmacist Sharen Numa; Camille Scott, Forks Community Hospital administrator and a registered nurse; Drs. Jeanette and Paul Stehr-Green; and Dr. Richard Welch.
Treating the appointments as a personnel matter, the commissioners interviewed the candidates a week ago in an executive session closed to the public.
