Clallam County has reduced its burning restrictions because of recent rains, but open burning and burning in barrels is still prohibited.
With recent damp weather, the state Department of Natural Resources on Tuesday decreased its fire hazard rating from high to moderate.
Controlled recreational fires for cooking and camping are now allowed in Clallam County, but the summer’s burn ban still remains in effect, Deputy Fire Marshal Sheila Miller said.
Everyone should be attentive to the condition of their property and items that could fuel a fire, such as overgrown grass, weeds, dead trees and piled debris, Miller said.
