Democrat Kevin Van De Wege of Sequim made it official by filing to run against incumbent 24th District state Rep. Jim Buck, R-Joyce.
Van De Wege, a 29-year-old Sequim firefighter, filed his paperwork with the Washington Secretary of State’s office late Monday.
Incumbent U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks, who represents the North Olympic Peninsula, has filed to run and is so far unopposed.
In Clallam County on Tuesday, Lonnie S. Steele Sr. filed to become the third candidate in the contest for county sheriff. Steele, a security guard from Joyce, will face appointed Sheriff Joe Martin and retired police sergeant Soeren Poulsen of Sequim.
Filing runs through Friday.
