SEQUIM — An angry Soeren Poulsen, embittered Tuesday by the Clallam County commissioners’ choice of Joe Martin for interim sheriff, said he will not run for the office again in 2004 because of the decision.
“Under the current system of Clallam County government I would have trouble working with these people,” said Poulsen, who with Martin and former Chino, Calif., Police Chief Rich Sill was one of the finalists gleaned from 12 applicants.
“I’m concerned that the commissioners did not take the path of change, but decided on an individual who has publicly stated he did not want the position,” said Poulsen.
“Joe Martin represents the status quo. Clallam County needs new, dynamic leadership. I’m disappointed in the selection process used.”
