Twenty-two Clallam County employees will lose their jobs at the end of the year to balance the 2003 budget.
The budget won’t be approved until mid-December and the public has a chance to have its say during public hearings Dec. 3 at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the commissioners’ meeting room at the County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
Copies of the budget will be available Thursday at the commissioners’ office in the courthouse at a cost of $5.
The budget can also be found online at www.clallam.net/Board/html/budget.htm.
County Administrator Dan Engelbertson said 25 positions are eliminated in the draft budget, while there are changes in hours or compensation for six others.
Three of the positions are already open.
Workers losing their jobs or facing a change in hours or compensation have already been notified, Engelbertson said.
