A show-cause motion filed against Clallam County commissioners in Superior Court was continued Friday after a county attorney said she wasn’t prepared to argue the case.
The motion, filed Aug. 31 by John Bennett of Sequim, seeks to force commissioners to put a petition repealing the county Critical Areas Ordinance on the Nov. 6 general election ballot.
Judge George L. Wood continued the hearing to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday after brief arguments by Bennett, property-rights activist Bob Forde of Sequim and county Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Debra Kelly.
Kelly said she did not have enough time to prepare for the case.
“I learned late Wednesday afternoon that I would have to handle this,” Kelly said. “I don’t really think it’s fair to the county for me to present this.”
