PORT ANGELES –– Yes, Virginia, it is July, but that doesn’t mean you can’t feel the yuletide glee.
Indie folk rockers Witherow will be joined for a mistletoed set by Bellingham’s best band (per the Cascadia Weekly), Br’er Rabbit, and Seattle’s Blackheart Honeymoon for a Christmas in July concert Saturday.
The $10 concert begins at 7 p.m. in the decked halls of the Elks Naval Lodge ballroom, 131 E. First St.
Port Angeles Food Bank will receive $1 of each admission.
The whole holiday-style concert, in fact, is in part a benefit for the food bank, as attendees are asked to bring food donations.
“A midyear Christmas for families in need,” Witherow singer Abby Mae Latson said.
The first 100 people who bring food for the food bank will receive free CDs, and the person who brings the most food will win a lavish giveaway package.
“The food bank told us that contrary to popular belief, summer is their hardest season, so it is very important that we continue to contribute as a community, which is how we came up with Christmas in July,” Latson said.
To further set the holiday mood, the wearer of the ugliest Christmas sweater will win a free Witherow sweatshirt. And just FYI, the National Weather Service is predicting sunny skies and 71 degrees Saturday.
Tickets are available at Easy Street Coffee and Tea House, Port Book and News, Beauty and the Beach, Hurricane Coffee and online on the Witherow website: www.witherowmusic.com.
