BEAVER — Four Beaver residents were staying in a motel temporarily after a chimney fire forced them out of their home early Friday morning.
Crews with Clallam County District No. 1 were alerted to the fire at a home on Tyee Ridge Road, just to the west of Lake Pleasant, at about 1:30 a.m. Friday, said Wes Romberg, Fire District No. 1 acting assistant chief.
Romberg said owner Janette Lindberg was one of the people in the home at the time of the fire, all of whom got out safely.
When firefighters arrived, they found that the blaze had reached the attic space and roof, Romberg said.
That area was heavily damaged, he added, though firefighters were able to protect much of the home’s interior.
Romberg said a fire was being tended in the home’s fireplace when it sparked a blaze in the chimney, which then spread to the home’s roof and attic area.
No monetary damage estimate was immediately available.
“The home I would consider, due to its age, a total loss, but a lot of the personal items are salvageable,” Romberg said.
“We were able to save most of the internal pictures and photos and personal stuff.”
Fire crews spent about two hours fighting the fire and left at about 5:30 a.m., Romberg said.
