GARDINER—A three-vehicle accident involving a school bus, a semi truck and a passenger car this morning on U.S. Highway 101 resulted in one minor injury, with no children hurt.
The collision blocked the southbound lane for a little more than an hour.
A Port Townsend School District bus was pulled over on southbound Highway 101 near Old Gardiner Road with its yellow lights flashing at about 8:12 a.m., said State Patrol Trooper D.L. Merritt, who was on the scene.
A car stopped behind it in the roadway, he said, adding that the driver was under the impression that she was required to stop.
A semi truck hit the car in the back, pushing it into the school bus, Merritt said.
The driver of the car was slightly hurt, he said, and was taken to a hospital.
No names of drivers were available this morning.
Drivers of both the car and truck will be cited, Merritt said.
The children were transferred to another bus and taken to school, while the bus was driven to Chimacum for inspection and repairs, he said.
Traffic was cleared by 9:30 a.m.
