PORT ANGELES — Capt. Richard A. “Tony” Hahn will transfer command of Coast Guard Air Station/Sector Field Office Port Angeles to Cmdr. Keith P. McTigue in a Friday ceremony at the Coast Guard hangar on Ediz Hook.
Rear Adm. Keith A. Taylor, commander of the 13th Coast Guard District, will preside over the invitation-only ceremony, Lt. Keidi Niemann said.
Hahn has served as the commanding officer of Air Station/Sector Field Office Port Angeles since July 2010.
He is transferring to Coast Guard headquarters in Washington, D.C., to become chief of the Office of Public Affairs.
McTigue’s most recent assignment was as deputy group commander and air station executive officer at Coast Guard Group-Air Station North Bend, Ore., from 2009 to 2012.
“The change-of-command ceremony is a time-honored tradition which formally restates that the continuity of command will be maintained,” Coast Guard officials said in a statement.
“It is a formal ritual conducted before the assembled company of the command,” the statement continued.
“It conveys to the officers, enlisted personnel and civilian employees of the unit that although the authority of command is relinquished by one person and is assumed by another, total responsibility, leadership and accountability is still maintained without interruption.”
