Chamber music, EcoArt, online auction fundraiser offered on Peninsula

Intimate chamber music concerts, environmental art and an online auction are among this weekend’s entertainment on the North Olympic Peninsula.

• The Port Angeles Symphony Chamber Orchestra will present concerts at 7 tonight at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 Lopez Ave. in Port Angeles, and at 7 p.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., Sequim.

Tickets are available at portangelessymphony.org and also will be sold at the door; for more information, phone the symphony office at 360-457-5579. General admission is $15 while 18 and younger are admitted free when accompanied by a ticketed patron.

• Karen Hackenberg’s EcoArt exhibition will continue through March 16 at the PUB Gallery of Art at Peninsula College at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd. in Port Angeles.

The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

• The Port Angeles Community Players’ online auction continues through Jan. 28.

People wishing to see the auction catalog or bid on items can visit the Community Playhouse website at www.pacommunityplayers.org and click on the “Auction” link to be connected to a safe, secure professional auction site showcasing the 25 items available for bid.

• Cool Jam and the Marmalades will perform from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Sequim Elks Lodge, 143 Port Williams Road, Sequim.

The cover charge is $12 per person, $10 for Elks members.

Trunk show by Debie Frable is set at Cabled Fiber and Yarn, 125 W. First St. in Port Angeles, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Frable, from Serial Knitters of Kirkland, will show a collection of hand-dyed yarns in a variety of weights.

Child care in Jefferson County from a population health perspective will be presented by Dr. Molly Parker to a meeting of the Port Townsend branch of the American Association of University Women at 10 a.m. Saturday

The branch meets at the Port Townsend Elks Club, 555 Otto St.

Parker is Jefferson Healthcare’s chief medical officer of population health.

• Contra dances, as well as others, will be called at Brigid’s Loft, 647 Washington St. in Port Townsend on Saturday.

Dave Thielk will call at a dance at 7 p.m.; there will be a lesson at 6:30 p.m.

Admission is $10 per person, $20 per family.

Pancake breakfast at the Sequim Prairie Grange at 290 Macleay Road in Sequim is set from 7:30 a.m. to noon Sunday.

The menu includes ham, eggs, coffee, orange juice and all-you-can-eat pancakes.

The meal costs $7 per person.

Future of oceans series will feature Josh Bouma presenting “Recovering Pinto Abalone: use of conservation aquaculture to give the Salish Sea’s largest rocky-reef cleaning marine snail a population boost” at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Bouma will speak at the chapel on Fort Worden Way near W Street.
