PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office Chain Gang picked up 520 pounds of roadside litter from four miles of Elwha River Road, 300 pounds of roadside litter from five miles of Place Road, 200 pounds of roadside litter from 5.2 miles Freshwater Bay Road, 200 pounds of roadside litter from two miles of Dry Creek Road, 200 pounds of roadside litter from 1.5 miles of Reddick Road, 240 pounds pounds of roadside litter from 1.5 miles of Airport Road, 220 pounds of roadside litter from four miles of East Lauridsen Boulevard and 100 pounds of roadside litter from one mile of South Barr Road during the week of Nov. 4-8.
Crew members also assisted the county Roads Division by brushing and chipping along South Barr and South Bagley Creek roads.
Crew members also removed two dangerous trees from Draper Road.
Crew members cleaned culverts and the storm drain on Mount Pleasant Road.
Crew members picked up and removed a bag of leaves and a desk illegally dumped in front of the Place Road Pit.
Crew members also planted on the Olympic Discovery Trail at Waterline Road with Jennifer Chenoweth.
Crew members also felled and chipped trees om Dry Creek Road in preparation for utility trench and road expansion.
During the week of Nov. 11-15 crew members picked up 700 pounds of roadside litter from Undie and Whitcomb-Dimmel roads and from Bogachiel Way and Calawah Way.
Notable items found along the roadways included seven tires and a bicycle.
Crew members also assisted the county Roads Division by felling trees and chipping along Dry Creek Road in preparation for a utility trench.
Crew members also planted plants and shrubs on the slopes of the Deer Park overpass.
Crew members assisted the U.S. Forest Service by removing three downed trees and brushing along Forest Service Road 2878.
So far this year, the chain gang has cleaned 348.45 miles of roadway, picked up 18,240 pounds of roadside litter, picked up 186,190 pounds of illegal dumpsite litter, recycled 320 pounds of aluminum, trimmed 94,358 feet of guardrail, pulled or sprayed approximately 31,580 Scotch broom plants and brushed 12.5 miles of county right-of-way.
For the Forest Service, the chain gang has so far this year cleaned 11.1 miles of forest service roads or trails.
