CARLSBORG — No one was injured Saturday in a business park fire that caused an estimated $250,000 in damage to a Carlsborg marble company.
At 2:48 p.m., Clallam County Fire District No. 3 responded to 160 Banana Way, Richerts Marble and Granite, for a fully involved commercial building fire, said Patrick Young, spokesman for Fire District 3.
“The first arriving units found a large amount of fire from the roof and above the doors of the north side of the building,” Young said in a Sunday report on the fire.
The fire was contained to the northern portion and brought under control in less than an hour, but the remainder of the building suffered heat, water and smoke damage, he said.
The roof above the northern section partially collapsed.
Fire crews included 26 firefighters, 12 fire response vehicles, and they were assisted by Olympic Ambulance, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office,and Clallam County Public Utilities District.
A fire crew remained on scene overnight to control hot spots.
Investigators have been to the scene to determine the cause of the fire, but as of Sunday afternoon, an official cause had not been determined, he said.
An estimated loss had not been calculated, but employees on scene estimated one of several pieces of equipment damaged in the fire cost around $250,000.
