PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles City Council member Navarra Carr is seeking re-election for her Position 6 seat, which she has held since 2020.

“I bring an important voice for young people, renters, and others whose needs are too often not represented in local governments,” Carr said in a press release.

“I hope to ensure that everyone has the ability to take advantage of the incredible recreational opportunities and community mindedness that make Port Angeles special.”

Carr, 30, the youngest member of the city council, was appointed to serve on the Clallam County Board of Health; the North Olympic Development Council; the Clallam County Homelessness Task Force and is chair of the council’s Lodging Tax Advisory Committee.

Currently a law student at the Seattle University School of Law, she plans to graduate and sit for the state bar exam in 2024. She holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Sacramento State University and works in social services and nonprofit administration.

Carr was elected in 2019 when she narrowly defeated her opponent, Nina Napiontek, by three votes. According to the Clallam County Auditor’s Office, Carr won 2,532 votes to Napiontek’s 2,529.

Candidate filing for the 2023 Clallam County General Election is May 15-19, with the Primary Election set for Aug. 1 and the General Election Nov. 7.
