Carlsborg VFW donates $5K to Captain Joseph House

SEQUIM — The Captain Joseph House Foundation has received a $5,000 donation from Carlsborg VFW Post 6787.

“We are proud to support the mission of Captain Joseph House Foundation and their support of Gold Star Families,” VFW representatives said.

Gold Star Families will participate in an all-expense-paid respite week because of the donation.

Additionally, the Carlsborg Post continues to support many programs such as the Sequim Food Bank, Sarge’s Place, VFW Youth Essay Scholarships, VFW Homes for Children and others for veterans.

The Carlsborg VFW is one of the Silver Sponsors for the Captain Joseph House Foundation’s 2024 Gala Under the Big Tent, a dinner, live auction and online auction set for Sept. 20.

Community members are invited to meet these dedicated veterans at the Captain Joseph House Foundation’s 12th annual fundraiser from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course, 1965 Woodcock Road. Tickets are $95 per person, $85 for military (veteran, retired, active) or a $1,000 sponsor seating for two.

The menu includes hors d’oeuvres, spinach salad, a complimentary glass of wine and choice of chef-carved prime rib, garlic mashed potatoes, au jus and horseradish; halibut with mango sauce and wild rice; or stuffed portobello mushrooms. Entrees include roasted seasonal vegetables and tiramisu with strawberries.

Tickets are available at www.captainjosephhousefoundation.org/events/save-the-date-12th-annual-gala-dinner-and-auction. For more information, call 360-460-7848.

Matt Lorch, an Emmy award recipient and charity fundraising auctioneer, will lead the auction. Live music will be provided by Buck Ellard.

The event’s Gold Sponsor is R&DA Military Assistance Program Inc.

The Captain Joseph House Foundation is a 501(c)(3) created to support Gold Star Families of the U.S. military’s fallen war heroes since the beginning of the global war on terrorism on 9/11 from all branches of the military.

With volunteer and paid staff, donation funding and inspiration, the foundation looks to ensure a place for families of the fallen to gather for respite and will provide a continuum of care for their personal healing.
