CARLSBORG — One day after horrific shootings ended two lives and left one hanging in the balance, friends and family of Noelle Staneart and Shane Loomis were coping with shock and sadness.
Friends say the couple had been together for a year or more and were very close.
But Noelle Staneart, 35, was in the process of divorcing her 46-year-old husband, Rockie Staneart, and tension developed between them.
That tension led Wednesday to a shooting in Sequim in which Rockie Staneart apparently took the life of his wife and critically wounded 29-year-old Loomis.
Loomis was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he remained Thursday in critical condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Loomis was a kind man with a generous heart who valued family, said Dick Killeen, business manager and former colleague of Loomis’ at Olympic RV Center in Carlsborg.
Killeen said the couple appeared to be exceptionally happy, and that Loomis referred to Noelle Staneart as his wife.
“They were neat people, a wonderful couple,” he said.
“I don’t know what the word is. I guess ‘loving.”‘
