Car theft string in Jefferson County broken, authorities say

PORT TOWNSEND – A joint investigation conducted by the Port Townsend Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has led to the arrest of a man suspected in at least three auto thefts.

Camron Louis Jevne, 24, of Port Townsend was arrested Tuesday on investigation of three counts of theft of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen property.

He remained in the Jefferson County jail on Wednesday with $25,000 bail.

Detective Brett Anglin of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Detective Jason Greenspane of the Port Townsend Police Department worked cooperatively during the investigation of automobile thefts occurring within Port Townsend, the Sheriff’s Office said.

“We have had somewhere between three and five [auto thefts] just in the Port Townsend, in the last month and a half to two months,” said Port Townsend Police Sgt. Ed Green on Wednesday.

The cars were later found abandoned outside the city limit several days after they were stolen.

After a monthlong investigation, more than a dozen members of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Port Townsend Police Department and the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team — or OPNET — served a search warrant at 271 Stevens Road in the Glen Cove area on Tuesday.

Law enforcement officers arrived at the house at about 1 p.m. and found several occupants in the house, court documents said.

Mary Ellen Hos, 38, was arrested at the same time as Jevne for investigation of possession of methamphetamine. She remained in jail Wednesday on $1,000 bail.

Evidence tying Jevne to the crimes was found as a result of the search warrant, according to court documents.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Christopher Ashcraft said both are to be charged on Monday.

The investigation is continuing, and more charges could be added against Jevne, Ashcraft said.
