PORT ANGELES — A 40-year-old woman was arrested for investigation of first-degree assault Wednesday after police said she intentionally rammed another car with her vehicle.
Rena M. Botts allegedly rammed a Pontiac Grand-Am with two children and a woman inside with her Toyota 4Runner shortly before 2 p.m. in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1400 block of South C Street, said Sgt. Barb McFall of the Port Angeles Police Department.
Officer Trevor Dropp said she didn’t stop until he drew his handgun.
Her larger vehicle was on top of the car’s bumper by the time she stopped, he said.
McFall said none were injured.
The passengers in the car had confronted Botts about running a stop sign, McFall said.
Dropp said he saw Botts intentionally drive her 4Runner into the car after one of the passengers confronted her in the parking lot.
McFall said the incident began somewhere near Eighth and Cherry streets when Botts apparently ran a stop sign in front of the other car.
The people in the car pursued Botts to the parking lot, she said.
Botts was taken into custody without further incident.
She did not provide an explanation.
“She did not really want to talk after I took her into custody,” Dropp said.
Botts remained in the Clallam County jail on Wednesday night.
