The League of Women Voters of Clallam County will host three forums involving primary candidates and a ballot measure in Port Angeles and Sequim this month.
The candidates’ names appear on the ballot for the Aug. 17 primary.
Ballots in the all-mail election will be distributed to voters starting July 28, and the two top vote-getters in each race will advance to the November election regardless of affiliation.
The forum schedule:
• Port Angeles Library,
2210 S. Peabody St., at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
District Court Judge Position No. 1 candidates Tim Davis, Pam Lindquist and Rick Porter, incumbent, are scheduled.
Candidates for prosecuting attorney will include Republican incumbent Deb Kelly and Democratic challengers Lauren Erickson and Larry Freedman.
A discussion of pros and cons for the North Olympic Library System’s levy lid lift proposal, Proposition 1, will be held.
• Sequim Senior Center,
921 E. Hammond St., at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24.
Candidates for 24th District state representative, Position 1, Republicans Craig Durgan and Dan Gase and Democratic incumbent Kevin Van De Wege are invited.
Also scheduled are Position No. 2 candidates Larry Carter and Jim McEntire. Republicans, and Steve Tharinger and Jack Dwyer, Democrats.
The library system’s Proposition 1 also will be discussed.
• Port Angeles City Council Chambers,
321 E. Fifth St., at 7 p.m. Monday, July 26.
Clallam County Commissioner District No. 3 candidates incumbent Mike Doherty, Democrat, and challengers Bill Peach and Robin Poole, Republicans, will debate.
Also scheduled are candidates for county director of community development, Alan Barnard, John Miller, Sheila Roark Miller, Sean Ryan and Tim Woolett.
The debates are co-sponsored by the American Association of University Women, Port Angeles radio station KONP, the Sequim Senior Center and the weekly Sequim Gazette newspaper.
