PORT ANGELES — A cancellation has led to an extension of the Concerts on the Pier series.
The free bonus concert will be Sept. 14, when Joy in Mudville will perform old-time bluegrass, Motown, rock, funk and blues.
Three of four sick
The band was originally scheduled to perform at City Pier on Wednesday night but had to cancel because three of the four band members were ill, said Marc Abshire, executive director of the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the summer series of free outdoor concerts.
Next week’s concert is still on, Abshire said.
The Buck Ellard Band will perform country music beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7.
During the Concerts on the Pier series, vendors provide food, and audience members are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs to the informal, family-friendly performances. No smoking is allowed on City Pier during the concerts.
If bad weather
If heavy wind or bad weather is expected, the performances might be moved to The Gateway pavilion at the corner of Lincoln and Front streets.
The future lineup for the series, according to www.portangeles.org, is:
• Sept. 7 — The Buck Ellard Band; country.
• Sept. 14 — Joy in Mudville; old-time bluegrass, jam-band, Motown, rock, funk, blues.
Sequim’s final Music in the Park performance for the season was Tuesday.
Port Townsend’s final free Concert on the Dock will be from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today.
The Dirty Beat Duo will play dance music. Stars of Tomorrow competition winner Hanna Trailer will open.
Sponsored by the Port Townsend Main Street Program and local businesses, Concert on the Dock is at the Pope Marine Plaza in downtown Port Townsend.
A wine, beer and cider garden for concertgoers is available at the plaza beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Visitors are urged to bring chairs or blankets.
