PORT ANGELES — Former Olympic Medical Center Board President Jim Cammack has resigned in writing, beginning the process that will lead to his replacement.
Cammack, the retired pharmacist who resigned orally to hospital CEO Eric Lewis on June 2, had not made it official by last week’s meeting of commissioners.
He subsequently did so.
“Because of personal reasons, I find it necessary to resign from the Board of Commissioners of Olympic Medical Center,” he wrote late last week.
“For many years, I have enjoyed giving something back to a community that my wife and I love so well.
“I’ve enjoyed learning more about Olympic Medical Center and what a great place it is.”
Cammack steadfastly has declined to reveal what were the “personal reasons,” saying only that they were his private problem and not linked to OMC.
He promised to explain the situation to the remaining six commissioners sometime in the future.
The commissioners’ next scheduled meeting is June 18, when they can open the board replacement process.
