SEQUIM — Artwork is sought for the Sequim Lavender Growers Association’s juried competition, “A Shade of Purple.”
Prizes include $750, $500, $250 and other cash awards.
Deadline for entries is Oct. 21.
The winning artwork would be made part of the promotion for the 16th annual Sequim Lavender Festival on July 20-22, 2012.

“We want to attract as many entries as we can that preview lavender in various scenes, settings and formats,” said Paul Jendrucko, spokesman for the lavender growers association, which sponsors the Sequim Lavender Festival.
“We want to obtain the artists’ vision, on their media of choice, of how lavender may be involved in the daily life of a person, family or pet or whimsical lifestyle.
“Country and farming scenes would depict the historic and economic importance of lavender in this part of the world —Sequim is the Lavender Capital of North America.”
