PORT ANGELES — A Clallam Business Incubator board meeting scheduled for today to discuss the organization’s continuing financial problems has been postponed.
The board was slated to meet this afternoon at the Lincoln Center, 905 W. Ninth St.
In an e-mail Monday night, board president Craig Johnson said the meeting will be rescheduled.
“I will request that it be rescheduled in the next two weeks,” Johnson said Tuesday, adding that too few board members were available for today’s meeting.
“The board needs to make a decision on the direction [Clallam Business Incubator] is going to take,” Johnson added.
The Incubator, a nonprofit group, owes Clallam County $709,306, is owed $20,324 in accounts receivable from sources including the city of Port Angeles and renters of the Incubator’s Lincoln Center rooms and has $3,687 in checking and savings accounts.
The organization helps entrepreneurs get started and provides common facilities and advice.
Clallam County makes a $48,000 annual payment on the Incubator’s $750,000 state Department of Community Trade and Economic Development loan.
The loan is being secured through the county’s Opportunity Fund, which is made up of county sales-tax proceeds.
