BUSINESS BRIEFS: Sustainable-energy grant workshop set in Chimacum next month . . . and other items

CHIMACUM — A sustainable-energy grant workshop for businesses, farms and ranches will take place at the Chimacum Grange, 9572 Rhody Drive, from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, March 11.

Owners who have been considering installing a renewable-energy system or making significant energy efficiency improvements to their establishments are encouraged to attend.

There is a USDA Rural Energy for America Program that may be able to provide grant funding for up to 25 percent of the cost of a renewable energy installation or energy efficiency improvements.

Grand opening

Course completed

SEQUIM — Nora Polizzi, co-owner of A Dropped Stitch yarn shop, 136 S. Second Ave., recently completed courses in advanced knitting techniques at the Madrona Fiber Arts Conference in Tacoma.

Polizzi said she is the only nationally certified advanced knitting instructor on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Open for lunch

PORT ANGELES — The Bushwhacker restaurant, 1527 E. First St., will open for lunch starting Tuesday.

The lunch hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

The buffet features soup and salad, as well as sandwiches, pasta and wraps.

Homebuying 101

SEQUIM — A first-time homebuyer class will take place at Holiday Inn Express, 1441 E. Washington St., from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.

The keynote speaker is Michele Adkisson of Evergreen Home Loans.

The event is sponsored by the Washington State Housing Finance Commission.

Law at The Landing

PORT ANGELES — Clallam-Jefferson County Pro Bono Lawyers will present their first Law at The Landing event of 2015 from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 7.

Law at The Landing is a free drop-in legal advice clinic for members of the public.

Held quarterly at The Landing mall, 115 E. Railroad Ave., the clinic allows local people to address their legal issues in one-on-one consultations with volunteer lawyers.
