PORT TOWNSEND — Jim “Kiwi” Ferris has been awarded the Washington State Small Business Person of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
Ben Crowl of First Sound Bank nominated Ferris for the award.
More than 32 years ago, Ferris and the late Charlie Moore started Edensaw Woods on the Olympic Peninsula in Port Townsend.
Now, three decades later, the business has nearly 50 employees in two locations.
Ferris will travel to Washington, D.C., along with 54 other winners to attend the celebration and naming of the National Small Business Person of the Year by the SBA.
National Small Business Week is from May 1-7 this year, with national and regional events planned.
