BUSINESS BRIEFS: Community bank hires Port Angeles branch vice president, manager . . . and other items

PORT ANGELES — Laurie Szczepczynski recently joined Sound Community Bank as vice president and the Port Angeles branch manager.

She has been in the banking industry for 32 years starting as a teller, serving in many roles including personal banker, teller supervisor, branch manager and business development officer.

She is a graduate of Peninsula College and the Washington Banker’s Association Executive Development Program.

Sound Community Bank provides personal and business banking services from offices in King, Pierce, Snohomish, Jefferson and Clallam counties.

Agent of Month

PORT ANGELES — Sarah Avery of Coldwell Banker Uptown Realty, 1115 E. Front St., was named Agent of the Month for May.

The award is given to the agent that produces the highest amount of business transactions within a month.

PORT ANGELES — Here is this week’s schedule for the 1:05 p.m. to 2 p.m. local talk show segment on KONP radio, at 1450 AM, 101.7 FM and www.konp.com on the Internet outside the Port Angeles area.

Station General Manager Todd Ortloff hosts the Monday through Thursday segments.

This week’s scheduled lineup:

■ Monday: Rich Newman, Olympic Medical Center’s chief human resources officer, and Sharon Thompson, provider recruiter.

Second segment: Port Angeles Fire Chief Ken DuBuc discusses the city’s fire insurance rating.

■ Tuesday: Seniors from Port Angeles and Lincoln high schools discuss their year and future plans.

■ Wednesday: Port Angeles Energy Manager Bob Kajfasz and Joey Currie, city energy analyst, discuss energy conservation and incentives for residential, commercial and industrial efficiency.

Second segment: Clallam County Sheriff Bill Benedict and Undersheriff Ron Cameron discuss the Cascadia Rising exercise.

■ Thursday: Dr. Kevin Gutzman, author and professor of history at Western Connecticut State University, discusses whether America is being governed by elected representatives or executive orders.

Second segment: Clallam County Public Utility District.
