Budgets, tax levies before county boards

Government meetings across North Olympic Peninsula

The boards of local government agencies will meet next week on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Jefferson County

The three Jefferson County commissioners will conduct public hearings regarding the 2023 tax levies when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

The hybrid meeting is at the commissioners chambers in the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson Street, Port Townsend.

The commissioners will hear a monthly public health update from Dr. Allison Berry at 9:45 a.m., conduct a public hearing regarding the six-year transportation improvement plan and discuss the 2023 lodging tax funding recommendations.

Items on the consent agenda include a call for a public hearing at 9:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, regarding the 2023 mid-biennium review and modification; a resolution to designate the critical information technology room as a “special facility”; an agreement with KPTZ for $65,000 for the Morgan Hill emergency transmitter project; an agreement with the city of Port Townsend for $500,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funding for the Evans Vista housing project; an agreement with the city of Port Townsend for $100,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funding for a community health and wellness center; and a request to convene the Board of Equalization to hear property tax appeals.

Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will discuss several resolutions related to 2022 budget items in their Monday work session and Tuesday business meeting.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The commissioners also will meet in executive session at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

• A grant agreement for $34,500 to replace the first aid building at the county fairgrounds.

• An amended memorandum of understanding with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service extending the previous MOU through Sept. 30, 2025.

• A request for an easement from the city of Port Angeles along Fourth Street and then north along Lincoln Street for an electrical trunk line.

• Several resolutions repealing obsolete sections of the county code.

The Port of Port Townsend commissioners will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday

Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will hear a presentation on the Beneficial Electrification Toolkit from Kellen Lynch during a special meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The commissioners also will consider a loan application for Phase 2 of the Coyle waterline replacement and discuss expansion and improvements of the Sparling treatment plant.
