SEQUIM — An area of about 10,000 square feet burned after an agricultural fire got out of control Sunday afternoon.
Clallam County Fire District No. 3 sent one engine to the brush fire at about 4:40 p.m. Sunday at 150 Quiet Place and extinguished the fire using about 200 gallons of water, said Dan Orr, assistant chief.
Orr said a few homes were 30 to 40 yards from the fire, but firefighters put out the slow-moving blaze before it reached the structures.
A shed was about 50 feet from the fire and also escaped damage.
Orr said that a burn ban will be in effect starting July 1, when only recreational fires in fire pits will be permitted.
