BRINNON — With enrollment on a sharp decrease, the Brinnon School Board is poised to begin talks to share some services with the Quilcene School District.
But Brinnon Board Chairman Bob Mollerus said the district will probably stop short of any talks about consolidation.
Exactly how far the two districts will combine will be clearer at a joint session of the Brinnon and Quilcene school boards on Aug. 19 at 11 a.m. in Quilcene.
Duckabush resident George Sickel made a presentation to the Brinnon board Monday night, suggesting that costs could be saved by sharing administrative personnel or even merging some or all of the districts.
Mollerus said the School Board will delay any comments on Sickel’s presentation until after the joint meeting, at which service sharing will be discussed.
Sickel’s presentation Monday gained the attention of several audience members, including County Commissioner Pat Rodgers, a former Brinnon School Board member.
